At around 9 years old, this long-eared coonhound came to us as a last resort. Deemed unadoptable due to severe food aggression and behavioral challenges, Hank had nowhere else to go. He struggled in traditional home environments, but here — with a carefully structured, predictable routine and a job he takes very seriously — Hank has absolutely thrived.
He’s our very own “livestock guardian dog”… in his own very special way.
We’re convinced Hank is being piloted by a tiny alien who’s read about Earth dogs but never actually met one. He desperately wants to be a dog, but something's just slightly... off. Still, his heart is in the right place — even if his methods are a little unusual.
He barks at every perceived intruder with heroic enthusiasm: the UPS driver, squirrels, rabbits, that one rock that moved slightly in the wind. He weaves gracefully through the pigs like he’s one of them and has appointed himself official guardian of the piglet shed, where he naps daily beside, Penny the pig. Typically archnemises they strike a truce for naptime.
Hank isn’t your average farm dog. He’s sweet, weird, loud, and absolutely himself. And with the structure, space, and support he gets here, he's *perfect* — just the way he is.
