Around 4 years old, Petunia Bean came to us from a neglect situation where she was living in deep filth, struggling to move, and being trampled by other pigs. By the time she arrived, her arthritis was severe and she had never received any form of treatment or pain relief.
Today, Petunia Bean is a completely different pig. With consistent care—including joint injections, pain management, and supportive therapies—she’s not just getting by, she’s thriving. Despite her chronic arthritis, she moves more comfortably, engages with her surroundings, and soaks up attention every chance she gets.
Petunia Bean is incredibly bright, gentle, and deeply social. She loves connection, enrichment, and being part of the daily rhythm of the sanctuary.
Her journey is a powerful example of what proper care and compassion can do—and she continues to remind us every day why this work matters.
